Special Metals Wire Products are manufacturers of a wide range of high performance nickel alloy wire products for use in many different applications, from high temperature automotive components such as spark plugs, fasteners, and exhaust valves, through corrosion resistant springs, seals and filters to controlled expansion and electrical parts. Serving a global customer base through the SMC sales organization, the Hereford UK plant holds stock of hot-rolled wire rod in over 40 alloys both for direct sale and to enable short delivery times in cold drawn sizes.

Recent investments include drawing machines, in-line cleaning and take-up facilities that have increased capacity and improved process control to ensure the highest quality standards are met. Close links with the primary mills, especially the adjacent Special Metals Wiggin facility, allow special analysis alloys to be offered in small quantities and with relatively short lead times.

Product Sizes
Wire in coil - 0.8 - 15 mm diameter.
Wire in straight lengths - 0.8 - 15 mm diameter in lengths up to 4.5 m.
Wire in "pay-off" packs - diameters from 0.5 - 2.0 mm in packs 360 mm O.D. X 250 mm I.D. X 270 mm high, or 510 mm O.D. X 355 mm I.D. X 380 mm high.
Wire in bulk drums - small diameter (0.8 - 2.5 mm) wire on drums carrying 120 - 250 kg of product.
Wire on spools - 102 - 1.5 mm diameter on plastic spools conforming to DIN 46399.
Wire on former - annealed, 2.0 - 4.0 mm diameter, pattern-layered.

Product Finishes
Bright annealed - available to order for products 4 mm diameter and below.
Annealed and pickled - available to order for products 0.8 mm diameter and above.
Temper Drawn - available to order.
Coated - available to order for cold-heading and spring applications.
Centerless ground - available as straight lengths, 5 - 15 mm diameter.
Shaped section - available in coil for selected alloys and sizes.
